Delivery

Delivery will be by Royal Mail Recorded or Special Delivery within mainland UK.  Royal Mail will require a signature as proof of delivery, therefore please provide a delivery address which is most convenient for you.  Non-UK deliveries will be sent via Royal Mail International Signed For service.

Once we receive your order, you will be sent an email advising of an approximate delivery date. 
If an item is in stock then dispatch should be within 5 days.  Many items are made to order and then submitted for hallmarking (see below) this process can take up to 4 weeks.

Please note that the delivery of bespoke/commissioned pieces can be up to 4 to 6 weeks.

Pricing

All Prices are shown in GB pounds sterling and include a gift box and delivery.

Photography/Images

We try to ensure that the photographs are as realistic as possible; however, as all pieces are hand-crafted there may be slight variations from the image shown.

Payment

 

 

 

Payment is accepted through PayPal.  You can pay by either using your credit/debit card or your PayPal account, if you have one.

Payments must be made immediately on placing order.  If payment is not received and no contact has been made within 48 hours, the sale will be cancelled.

Hallmarking

It is a legal requirement that precious metal jewellery is hallmarked.  This is to protect you and provides assurance of quality.

Our heavier pieces of silver (over 7.78g) are sent to the Sheffield Assay Office where they test each piece and give it our unique hallmark; smaller items (less than 7.78 g) are exempt, these have the 925 mark.

Bespoke/Commissioned Jewellery

If you wish to commission a piece of jewellery please contact us by email and we can discuss your personal requirements.  We’ll work out some designs and email them to you with the prices— free of charge.  Then, if you decide you would like us to make a piece for you— tell us your design choice and send a 50% deposit. The balance to be paid before dispatch.

The process normally takes 4 to 6 weeks so please plan ahead.  Very occasionally smaller items can be made faster—so it is worth asking.

Returns/Refunds

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your jewellery you may return it within 7 days. 

It is important that you contact us before posting to confirm that the return is acceptable and for mailing details. 

All items are to be returned in the same condition as they were received or the return cannot be accepted. 

Please ensure items are well packed and insured/tracked as we will not be held responsible for items damaged in transit back to us. 

Please be advised that unless the return is due to our error, postage cost cannot be refunded.

In the unlikely event that your jewellery is faulty we will replace, repair or reimburse you for the purchase and postage for up to three months after sale

EXCEPTION:  Commission pieces are non-returnable.

Mel-James Jewellery will not be held responsible for faults or consequences caused by your misuse, negligent handling or improper care or use of items.

Care Instructions

Jewellery should be last on first off to protect it from detergents, toiletries, perfume and all the other day to day substances that will harm it, including water.  Silver oxidises (blackens) on exposure to air.  For highly polished silver use a silver polish occasionally to remove this and keep your jewellery looking its best.  For jewellery with a satin finish, use wire wool to clean and maintain the finish, avoiding any settings.
