On September 9, Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held an opening ceremony for its campus shuttle waiting lounge, marking the official launch of a facility that benefits the university community. GTIIT Vice Chancellor Eli Aljadeff, Pro-Vice Chancellor Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Director General Rami Horesh, and faculty and staff representatives attended the ceremony.

Vice Chancellor Eli Aljadeff said the shuttle bus is a key means of transport for faculty and students traveling between the South and North Campuses, and that the waiting lounge is a concrete step in the university's commitment to serving its community, underscoring its priority on safe and convenient travel.

The lounge was converted from the gatehouse at Gate 2 of the South Campus and combines a pedestrian passage, a security office, and a shuttle waiting area. Now, the new Gate 2 is pedestrian-only, while the original Gate 2 is open to non-motorized vehicles. This separation of pedestrian and vehicle traffic improves campus traffic management. Meanwhile, sunshades and seating at Gate 9 of the South Campus and the main gate of the North Campus offer a comfortable place to wait.

The new waiting lounge has made travel noticeably better for faculty and students. Going forward, the university will continue to upgrade its campus infrastructure to better serve its community.
